Although telemedicine, like telemonitoring and tele-rehabilitation, has been getting more popular in recent years, hospital admissions at home are still in their infancy. Current organisational and technological barriers prevent large-scale implementation of hospitalisations at home. Once these challenges have been overcome, hospital admissions at home will help innovate healthcare and move it towards a more sustainable model.
